so yes in tribute to my cam and my tummy, we shall kickstart enormouselephant val's escapades of delightful delectables with val's favourite endorphin-inducing euphoria -- chocolate. =)
#1 : cake and me
chocolate blackout [that's what it's called if i'm not wrong] from ps cafe has gotta be the most humongous slice of chocolate cake ever. they certainly do not skimp on the chocolate -- moist bittersweet chocolate spongecake that isn't too sweet with thick slabs of pure chocolate fudge, not cream, drowned delightfully in liquid dark chocolate served with a scoop of vanilla icecream. the balance was good, the cake and the chocolate went well and the vanilla enhanced its taste; good thing the liquid choc wasn't thick syrup too else it'd be too sweet. absolutely heaven in the first few bites but advised to be shared, coz after awhile the cloying sweetness gets to you and sadly too many bites stripped away some blissfulness. good thing enormouselephant val's companion liked the thick chocolate which was way too sweet for me thus i settled happily on the cake... maybe best shared with 3-4 ppl depending on amount of stomach space left. and yes, slothed right after on the comfy couch at ps cafe, couldn't budge due to blackout of the brain from all that chocolate.
#2: ice-cream
decided to try out U.d.d.e.r.s at goldhill shopping centre, mooishly good icecream at reasonable prices =) oh right for alcoholics this place would be good coz they've got a whole rack of icecream liberally doused with alcohol. so we got lychee martini and triple sec dark choc [for the darkchoc nut moi], both alcoholic hmmm. the lychee martini rocks - slight tinge of alcohol with little lychee bits in the icecream which had great texture, a mix between cream-based and sorbet. ah but the dark choc was way too much for me, alcohol overload. it was too strong and totally masked the chocolate =( ben and jerry's chocolate therapy and haagen daaz's midnight cookies still the best heh. oh but the owner was pretty nice, very receptive to suggestions. he let us try rum and raisin -- whoots! GREAT. yum and yayzin. hahaha >_<
darkchocolate pastilles + marshmallows + hot milk = creamy hot chocolate! the boss of U.d.d.e.r.s wanted to try out his recipe of hot chocolate and asked us to be food samplers -- our lucky day! =) floating melting marshmallows in the froth and rich dark choco with the right amount of bitterness, really good and thick, creamy with just the right amount of sweetness from the marshmallows and the rich taste of the chocolate. perfect for all, since my white-chocolateish friend liked the marshmallow sweetness and i liked the dark choc richness, yet it was neither too sweet nor too bitter. moooolishes!
yeaps okay so that concludes our chocolatey trip. now for abit of sth else...
had lunch at Zambuca and there was this really AWESOME tiramisu. i'm not really a fan of tiramisu but this just melted my heart =) the sponge: mascarpone cheese ratio is simply perfect. the sponge was soaked with just the right amount of liquer and the texture of the mascarpone was great, neither too fluffy nor too thick. dusted atop it was the ideal amount of cocoa powder, finished off with fresh blueberries, raspberries and half a strawberry. blissfully wonderful.
okay yes not forgetting the brownie you spy at the corner of the picture >_< it's nicely moist, not too dry nor too heavy. the icecream is good, not the usual vanilla but something creamy and caramellish, with a drizzle of chocolate and a sprinkle of nuts. not bad, but the tiramisu still owns =)
okay so that concludes this delightfully chocolatey trip from chocolate-brown val.
this udder with four teats sticking out haphazardly was spied resting atop a sidetable, producing *gasp* not milk, but water! better stop those genetically-modified, chemicallish stuff!
